1.2 Professional Development

Staff Participation and AwaREness

St. Margaret's Day School employs 16 teachers and 23 total staff for daily operations. SMDS has made a lasting commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative environmental teaching and learning. All staff members plan and participate in our environmental initiative activities. All staff members attend regular staff meetings in which our green initiatives are discussed and updated and progress on our Green School Certification Application is discussed. At staff meetings ideas are also discussed and brainstormed on ways to continue improving our outdoor learning center and to share ideas about what they are doing in their classrooms as well as outside for environmental education. All teachers have met with our Green School committee members to outline their class activities, brainstorm new ideas, and align curriculum standards and practices with green initiative principles.
